Solution and technology description

Riverside Karlín (RSK) is a collection of administrative buildings located in Prague’s Karlín district along the banks of the Vltava River. Our task was to design and implement a comprehensive lighting upgrade in the heavily used underground road, allowing vehicles to enter the underground car parks of 7 buildings. The aim was to increase the level of safety and optimize energy consumption.

The original lighting system consisted of halogen luminaires mounted on the walls, which no longer met the requirements for quality road lighting. In addition, they were constantly lit, without the possibility of intensity control or dimming. The first step was therefore to remove the original luminaires and replace them with modern LED Norma luminaires, which were newly installed on the ceiling. We connected these luminaires to the Poseidon control system, which allowed for better regulation and optimization of the lighting.

Lighting control using Poseidon is fully automated. The entire space is equipped with motion-detecting controllers. When motion is detected, the luminaires light up to a preset intensity. If the controller does not detect further movement within the set time period, it will reduce the lighting intensity to 30% of this value. The intensity of the lights can also be changed by the user via the web app, where the current lighting status can also be monitored.

The system also includes a voltage status transmitter. By connecting a twilight switch to this transmitter, the outdoor (entrance) lights can be controlled depending on the intensity of the outdoor light. In addition, up to 1/3 of the luminaires are connected to an emergency generator, providing lighting in the event of a power failure.

The new lighting system in the RSK Karlín underground road brings safety and comfort. Thanks to Norma LED luminaires and the Poseidon control system, we have created a space with minimal risk and optimal visibility. In addition, we have significantly reduced energy costs, which contributes to environmental sustainability.
